Description
The ViPrimePLUS Aspergillus qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of all pathogenic subtypes of Aspergillus genomes in bronchoalveolar lavage fluids and blood or serum samples.

Aspergillus is a ubiquitous airborne fungus found in the indoor and outdoor environment. As a weak opportunistic pathogen, most human and animals who constantly inhale the aspergillus conidia showed no symptoms of illness as the human immune system quickly eliminates them. However, people with lung diseases and weakened immunity are more prone to developing allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, aspergilloma and fatal invasive aspergillosis. Due to the rising number of immunocompromised patients, a 4-fold increase in the invasive aspergillosis (IA) has been observed in the last 12 years. A. fumigatus is the most common etiologic agent, being responsible for approximately 90% of human infections. Other agents include A. flavus, A. terreus, A. niger, and A. nidulans which can also cause human infections.
