Description
The ViPrimePLUS Human Measles Virus RT-qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Human Measles Virus genome in clinical samples (e.g. throat swabs and nasopharyngeal swab).

Human Measles Virus (HMV) which is also known as rubeloa virus is a negative sense, single stranded RNA virus which causes measles, a systemic infection starting with infection in the respiratory lining of the nasopharynx. The incubation period of 14 days consists of the subsequent occurrence of symptoms, such as cough, conjunctivitis, appearance of granular lesions and maculopapular rashes that spreads throughout the body. Complications, such as diarrhea, pneumonia and encephalitis may develop, particularly among the infants, pregnant ladies and immunocompromised patients. Before the introduction of vaccination in 1963, 7-8 million deaths were reported in USA and 95-98% of children are infected. Now, measles is still a major health problem in some developing countries.
